“Great Scenes From Opera”

Where could you hear all of your favorite operatic excerpts with orchestral accompaniment in one evening of fun with today’s leading Kansas City based singers? At the Civic Opera’s “Great Scenes From Opera” concert coming up January 30 and February 1, 2009, that’s where!

In a “first” for the Civic Opera, the company is presenting a concert of popular opera favorites on Friday, January 30 and Sunday, February 1, 2009, at a new performing space for us: the METSpace home of our sister arts organization the Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre, located at 3614 Main Street, Kansas City, Missouri. METSpace is a former retail location which has been converted by the Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre into a wonderful and intimate theater space. You will enjoy the up-front and personal experience with Civic Opera singers that you will experience at our Great Scenes concert.

The Friday, January 30 performance will be at 8:00 p.m. and the Sunday, February 1 performance will be at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available now from the Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre box office (816-536-9464). General admission ticket prices will be $15 for adults and $10 for students. There are no reserved seats, so arrive early to be on the front row; but all seats in the theater are excellent. Parking is available in a lot in front of the theater, on the street or at either of two parking lots across the street (spaces leased by the Metropolitan Ensemble Theater).

The Great Scenes concert will mark the producing debut of David Adams, the COT’s new Producing General Director, so this is your opportunity to experience first-hand the imprimatur which David Adams will make on our company. Come and see!
